Twisted Sister is a band formed in 1973 in the town of Ho-Ho-Kus, New Jersey. The group is best known for their songs “We’re Not Gonna Take It” and “I Wanna Rock”. In this section, I will be looking at the influences and inspiration for Twisted Sister’s music.
After noticing that their rock compositions were being heavily influenced by the groups Judas Priest, Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin, they started to experiment with different musical styles such as glam rock and heavy metal. The band’s first album was recorded before they had found their specific sound but it was met with a lukewarm response from critics. They continued to experiment with different styles of music until they found their niche.
